India Secures Silver Medal, Claiming 15 Golds at the Exciting Asian Boxing Championships!

Amman: India wrapped up its first Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships with an impressive tally of 15 gold, 6 silver, and 22 bronze medals, securing third place in the overall standings. They matched Uzbekistan’s gold count and finished just one medal behind Kazakhstan, the top team.

The closing day saw the U-17 girls shine, clinching four gold medals. Khushi Chand (46 kg) squeezed out a narrow 3:2 victory against Mongolia’s Altanzul Altangadas, showcasing her determination. Ahaana Sharma (50 kg) and Jannat (54 kg) dominated their bouts, earning 5:0 wins over Uzbek opponents.

Anshika (80+ kg) capped off the day with a swift first-round win against Jordan’s Jana Alalawneh, bringing India’s gold tally to 15.

Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India, expressed pride in the young athletes’ achievements: “Their performance is a source of pride for the nation. Representing India on such a platform is remarkable. We believe many of these boxers will make it to the Olympics in the future.”

In the boys’ U-17 category, Devansh (80 kg) earned silver after losing 0:5 to Kazakhstan’s Mukhamedali Rustembek. Overall, the boys secured one silver and six bronze medals, while the girls achieved four golds, two silvers, and five bronzes.

This event demonstrated India’s strong youth boxing program, especially among girls, who took home 10 of the 15 available gold medals.
