India Successfully Tests Pralay Quasi-Ballistic Missile: A Major Milestone Off the Odisha Coast

India recently showcased its missile technology with a successful test launch of two Pralay missiles. This event took place off the coast of Odisha and was part of thorough user evaluation trials.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the test around 10:30 am. Both missiles followed their intended paths and met all flight goals, as confirmed by tracking sensors. High-ranking officials from the DRDO, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army were present, along with industry representatives.

The Pralay missile is a surface-to-surface, short-range ballistic missile, boasting a striking range of 150 km to 500 km. It can carry different types of warheads, making it versatile against various targets. This missile uses advanced guidance and navigation technology for high precision.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised the DRDO and other involved agencies for this successful launch. He emphasized that the quick succession of the tests solidifies the missile’s reliability.

Notably, the Pralay was developed by the Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad, with support from several other DRDO labs and Indian industries. This highlights a growing trend of self-reliance in defense technology within India.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, chairman of DRDO, also celebrated the success. He mentioned that this achievement signals the system’s readiness for deployment.

A recent survey showed that public confidence in India’s missile technology is rising, with 79% of respondents feeling secure about the country’s defense capabilities. This reflects a broader trend where technological advancements in defense are closely linked to national pride.
