India Triumphs Over South Africa in ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 Final: A Historic Victory!

The Indian cricket team celebrated a spectacular win at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, defeating South Africa by nine wickets in the final match at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Gongadi Trisha was a standout performer, shining with both bat and ball. She scored 44 runs off 33 balls and took 3 wickets for just 15 runs, helping India defend their title as two-time champions.

In their chase of 83 runs, India got off to a strong start. Openers Gongadi Trisha and Kamalini Gunalan built a solid partnership, adding 36 runs before Kamalini got out, caught by Kayla Reyneke.

Sanika Chalke joined Trisha at the crease, and together they kept the momentum going. By the end of the powerplay, India was sitting comfortably at 44 runs for one wicket.

Trisha was particularly tough for the South African bowlers to handle, and Chalke also contributed by finding the boundary on occasion. With just 12 runs needed from the last 10 overs, they pushed to finish quickly. Chalke hit a couple of fours, and soon after, Trisha finished the game with another boundary, securing the win for India.

Earlier in the day, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first but quickly fell into trouble. They lost three wickets in the first five overs and struggled to recover. Captain Kayla Reyneke and wicket-keeper Karabo Meso tried to stabilize their innings, but India’s bowlers kept the pressure on.

Despite Reyneke and Meso’s efforts, they both went out, leaving South Africa at a precarious 45/5 after 13 overs. Mieke van Voorst briefly boosted their score with three fours, but her innings ended at the hands of Trisha. South Africa managed to bat through their 20 overs, finishing at 82 runs, with their last wicket falling on the final ball.

Final Scores: South Africa: 82 all out in 20 overs (Mieke van Voorst 23 runs; Gongadi Trisha 3/15). India: 84/1 in 11.2 overs (Gongadi Trisha 44*, Kayla Reyneke 1/14). India won by 9 wickets.
