India had a smooth run in the Davis Cup tie against Togo, securing a 4-0 victory at the DLTA Stadium in New Delhi on February 2, 2025. The team sealed their spot in World Group 1 after winning the crucial doubles match.
N Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli dominated their opponents, M’lapa Tingou Akomlo and Hod’abalo Isak Padio, winning 6-2, 6-1 in just 57 minutes. Akomlo stepped in as a last-minute substitute for Togo’s injured star player, Thomas Setodji.
Balaji led the charge, losing only one point on his serve throughout the match. Bollipalli’s improved serving added to their control. The Indian duo secured breaks during key moments, with Akomlo struggling with double faults that handed India an easy first set.
The second set saw India continue the momentum, racing to a 5-1 lead. Bollipalli closed it out with an ace, showcasing strong teamwork and strategy.
In his Davis Cup debut, Karan Singh followed with a solid win over Padio. He won 6-2, 6-3, showing determination and skill. The match was highlighted by long rallies as Padio attempted to regain control, but Karan’s consistency prevailed. Although Padio broke Karan’s serve once, it wasn’t enough to shift the tide.
Overall, India’s performance was smooth and effective, demonstrating their strong presence in the competition.
