New Delhi: India and the United States have taken an important step to cooperate in tackling cyber crimes. They recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that aims to enhance collaboration and training between their agencies.
The MoU was signed in Washington by India’s ambassador, Vinay Kwatra, and Kristie Canegallo, the acting deputy secretary of Homeland Security. This agreement is set to boost the use of cyber threat intelligence and digital forensics in investigations.
In India, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Union home ministry, will oversee this initiative. In the US, the Department of Homeland Security, along with its key branches like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Cyber Crimes Center (C3), will be involved.
This partnership is crucial as cyber crimes are closely linked to various security issues faced by both nations, including terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and money laundering. The MoU aims to strengthen the ongoing security cooperation between India and the US, enhancing their comprehensive and global strategic partnership.
By working together, both countries hope to address these complex security challenges more effectively. This collaboration is an essential move towards safer cyberspace for all.
