Indian Diaspora Comes Together for an Inspiring Viksit Bharat Run in Iceland

On September 28, 2025, the Indian community in Iceland took part in the Viksit Bharat Run, an event organized by the Indian Embassy in Reykjavik. The ambassador, R. Ravindra, spoke to the participants, guiding them through the Viksit Bharat pledge.

The Viksit Bharat initiative aims for a self-reliant and developed India by 2047. This vision was highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech. Ambassador Ravindra emphasized that this progress relies on self-reliance, innovation, and empowering citizens.

After the run, which saw about 50 participants, certificates were awarded to the runners. The event is part of a larger campaign by India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Ministry of External Affairs. Over 150 locations in 91 countries are participating in the Viksit Bharat Run from September 17 to October 2, promoting collective action for nation-building.

Each run covers 3–5 kilometers at famous landmarks around the world, like San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge or Mexico City’s Angel of Independence. This global initiative aims to unite Indians abroad and their local communities, celebrating fitness, service, and the spirit of India.
