Indian Startup Launches ‘Drishti’ Satellite with SpaceX: PM Modi Celebrates This Milestone!

Bengaluru-based startup GalaxEye has successfully launched its Mission Drishti satellite, marking a significant milestone for India’s space journey. The satellite was sent into orbit aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from California.

What makes Mission Drishti special? It’s the world’s first OptoSAR satellite, combining electro-optical (EO) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technologies. EO sensors capture clear, high-resolution images when the weather is good, while SAR sensors can collect data in any conditions, using radar pulses. This dual capability is a game-changer for various applications.

Suyash Singh, the founder and CEO of GalaxEye, expressed excitement about the launch, stating, “Now that we’re in orbit, our main focus is on completing the commissioning process. We’re already seeing global interest in the unique data our OptoSAR payload can provide.”

This satellite addresses limitations of previous Earth observation systems, offering consistent data collection for defense, agriculture, disaster management, maritime monitoring, and infrastructure planning. GalaxEye plans to expand this initiative to a constellation of 10 satellites by 2030, strengthening India’s Earth observation capabilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the launch, seeing it as a reflection of young innovators contributing to the nation. He emphasized the importance of such achievements in driving India’s space sector forward.

Recent research highlights how satellite technology is increasingly important for global challenges. The growing demand for precise environmental data underscores the relevance of innovations like Mission Drishti. According to a report by the European Space Agency, the Earth observation market is expected to grow by over 30% in the next five years.

In addition to its technical advancements, the launch has sparked positive reactions on social media. Users are celebrating India’s strides in space technology, which many view as key to future advancements in various sectors.

As Mission Drishti takes its place in orbit, it serves not just as a technological feat, but also as a symbol of India’s ambition and potential in the global space arena. For more on India’s growing space industry and its recent developments, check out the ISRO report.
