New Delhi Update: Indian Vessel Sails Safely After Attack
The Indian-flagged ship, Jag Laadki, made a safe departure from Fujairah on March 14, 2026, following an attack while it was loading crude oil. It successfully left the Fujairah Single Point Mooring carrying around 80,800 metric tons of Murban crude oil, headed for India. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, all crew members aboard are safe.
The ministry reassured the public that safety measures are in place for Indian vessels and seafarers in the region. They are in constant communication with shipping authorities to ensure smooth operations. Thankfully, there have been no reported incidents involving Indian seafarers recently.
In addition to Jag Laadki, two other Indian-flagged LPG carriers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, crossed the critical Strait of Hormuz. They are scheduled to arrive in India soon, with Shivalik reaching Mundra Port on March 16 and Nanda Devi on March 17.
At the moment, there are 22 Indian-flagged vessels still operating in the Persian Gulf, watched closely by the Directorate General of Shipping. The situation remains stable, and the authorities are responsive to seafarers’ queries and concerns. A total of 276 Indian seafarers have already been safely repatriated from the Gulf, with 23 returning in the last 24 hours.
This situation highlights the crucial role of Indian maritime operations in global trade. As tensions in certain regions rise, the safety of seafarers becomes even more critical. Shipping companies and the government continue to prioritize the welfare of those working on the seas.
