IUP Baseball Players Shine in PSAC Honors

In Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, IUP baseball has celebrated five players being named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) All-Conference teams. This year, the honors included two first-team selections and three on the second team.
The all-conference teams are determined through a vote among the head coaches in the conference. Notably, Payton Conte from California received the PSAC West Athlete of the Year title for the second consecutive year. Mike Conte, also from California, was named PSAC West Coach of the Year. Ian Korn of Seton Hill earned Pitcher of the Year honors, while Brady McGuire from Seton Hill was recognized as Freshman of the Year.
IUP’s All-Conference Honorees
IUP’s senior Davin Landers (catcher) and junior Elijah Dunn (outfielder) both achieved first-team All-PSAC honors. This marks a significant achievement for them. Landers had an impressive streak earlier this season, going 12-for-12 at the plate over three games against Clarion while scoring seven runs. His overall season stats include 33 hits, three home runs, and a solid defensive performance with 155 putouts.
Dunn has also made a name for himself, ranking highly across the conference in home runs and slugging percentage. He contributed significantly in a series against Slippery Rock, where he hit four home runs and drove in 10 RBIs. Dunn’s efforts place him among the top in program history for home runs.
Ricardo Aponte (sophomore outfielder) earned a second-team selection this year, building on a strong performance last season. Aponte boasts a .325 batting average, leading the team with 33 runs scored and notable contributions with 51 hits and 12 doubles. He also ranks well for stolen bases and had a standout game against UPJ, hitting two home runs.
Fifth-year transfers Mitchell Grosch (second base) and Mike Huber (designated hitter) are recognized on the second team as well. Grosch has a batting average of .318, supporting the team with 31 runs and 47 hits. Huber leads the team in several categories, including runs and hits.
As a whole, the IUP baseball team holds a record of 24-25, securing the third seed in the PSAC West. They are gearing up for the 2025 PSAC Baseball Tournament, starting against East Stroudsburg.
