Crimson Hawks Dominate at Bloomsburg
The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Crimson Hawks delivered an impressive performance on Saturday, clinching a decisive 87-55 win against Bloomsburg in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
From the start, IUP showcased their skill, racing to a 45-25 halftime lead. They maintained control throughout the second half, adding another 42 points while limiting the Huskies to just 30. With this victory, IUP improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in PSAC play, while Bloomsburg fell to 2-6 and 0-3.
Kymani Merraro was the standout for IUP, scoring 20 points. He sank three 3-pointers and was a perfect 7 for 7 from the free-throw line. Teammates Dallis Dillard and Christian Moore also made significant contributions, with Dillard netting 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds, while Moore added 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
IUP’s bench made a notable impact, with Ian Herring scoring 11 points and pulling down six rebounds. Tyler Grove chipped in with 10 points, making a total of five players reaching double figures in scoring.
The team exhibited strong shooting, hitting 40.7% from beyond the arc and converting 20 of 23 free-throw attempts. They also dominated in points from the bench (29-16) and capitalized on Bloomsburg’s 21 turnovers, scoring 23 points off these mistakes.
On Bloomsburg’s side, Xion Nichols led the team with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting and three 3-pointers. Kodi Johnson added 10 points, but overall, the Huskies struggled, making only 27.3% of their shots from long range.
Historically, IUP has often been a strong contender in the PSAC, and this game reinforces their position. As they continue their season, the Crimson Hawks aim to maintain this momentum. Their next challenge will be on Sunday, when they face East Stroudsburg, marking IUP’s final game of 2025.
