India’s Rising Influence: Raksha Mantri Highlights Nation’s Role as a Global Beacon of Balance and Responsibility at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue

At the Chanakya Defence Dialogue, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted India’s evolving role as a key global partner. Singh outlined important reforms aimed at strengthening India’s defense capabilities:

• Streamlining procurement for efficiency and transparency.
• Encouraging indigenous production and boosting local businesses.
• Enhancing the welfare of soldiers and veterans.
• Improving border security and maritime infrastructure.

He stressed that these reforms are vital to tackle challenges like terrorism, border threats, and information warfare. Recent trends show that countries investing in defense innovation are better prepared for global uncertainties. In 2022, global military expenditure reached $2 trillion, underscoring the importance of modernization in defense strategies.

During the dialogue, new projects were launched, signaling a shift towards self-reliance and sustainability in defense:

• EKAM: An AI platform specifically designed for military applications.
• Prakshepan: A climatology app that helps predict natural disasters.
• AI Handbook: A resource for military leaders to utilize AI effectively in operations.
• Digitalization 3.0: Over 100 new digital applications for the Indian Army.
• Green Hydrogen Project: Aiming to cut carbon emissions by 1,500 tonnes annually in Ladakh.

This dialogue also fostered engagement among military leaders, diplomats, and scholars to discuss security and technological advancements. Singh underscored that India’s efforts toward strength and security can contribute positively to global peace and set ethical benchmarks for technology. As nations navigate the complexities of the modern world, India’s proactive stance reflects a commitment to responsible growth and cooperation.
