Arshdeep Singh’s quick return to his game rhythm and Jasprit Bumrah’s stamina will be key for India in the Asia Cup, according to former bowling coach Bharat Arun.
Arun believes that while Arshdeep has bowled a lot in England, he still lacks competitive experience. He did play a Duleep Trophy match recently, but that may not be enough to prepare him for the Asia Cup, which starts against the UAE on Wednesday.
“Arshdeep has great potential, but he really needs match practice,” Arun stated in an interview. “The rhythm comes from playing. It might take him a few matches to get back into it.” Arun has previously coached the Indian team, enjoying notable success between 2014 and 2021.
On Bumrah, Arun was confident that playing six T20 matches in three weeks wouldn’t be an issue. “If he feels good, he should play every game. It’s all about maintaining his rhythm. His call is crucial, but I believe he’ll be fine with the tournament format,” he said.
Arun also shared insights on Harshit Rana, a young pacer he has trained. He highlighted Rana’s impressive skills, like his ability to bowl well-disguised slower balls and effective yorkers. However, Arun emphasized the importance of consistency for Rana. “His talent is exceptional, but he must execute his plans consistently to succeed,” he noted.
As India approaches the Asia Cup, the focus will be on how quickly players like Arshdeep find their groove and whether Bumrah can keep up the momentum. The Asia Cup could be a crucial moment for these athletes to showcase their skills on a big stage.
Enthusiastic fans are already buzzing on social media, with many sharing their hopes and predictions for the tournament. The pressure is on, but excitement surrounds the team’s potential as they aim for another victory in a prestigious series.
