Inside Wake Forest University Athletics: Exclusive Insights from the Quad

Good Afternoon, Demon Deacon Nation!

We’re diving into an exciting week in DEACTOWN! It all kicks off tonight with the No. 4 men’s soccer team playing at Spry Stadium at 6 p.m. Right after, the No. 18 women’s soccer team has its ACC home opener against Miami at 8 p.m. You can catch it live on ACC Network!

Did you know the Wake Forest-NC State football rivalry is the longest ongoing series in the ACC? This year marks over a century of competition dating back to 1910. Currently, Wake leads the recent matchups, 4-3. Both teams enter this Thursday’s game with a pristine 2-0 record, making it a must-watch.

Last Saturday, our team displayed resilience. Coach Jake Dickert deserves a shoutout for leading them through a tough six-hour weather delay for a win against Western Carolina. Senior tailback Demond Claiborne was named ACC Player of the Week for his impressive performance.

This Thursday, all eyes will be on Winston-Salem. ESPN is set to broadcast the Big Four rivalry game. Tonight, join us at Manchester Plaza at 7 p.m. for The Jake Dickert Show. It’s a chance to hear from Coach Dickert and enjoy free pizza from Domino’s and tasty samples from Miller’s on Robinhood.

On Thursday, ESPN’s “SC on Campus” will go live at 2 p.m. on Hearn Plaza. Coach Dickert will be interviewed, and there will be fun events like a cornhole competition. Fans and students are welcome to join in and celebrate Wake’s spirit.

Before the big game, don’t miss the “Climb to Remember” event at Allegacy Stadium at 6 a.m. This yearly tribute honors the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and brings together ROTC students from Wake Forest, Winston-Salem State, and Salem College.

The much-anticipated game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fans are encouraged to wear black to show their support. Let’s fill Allegacy Stadium and create an unforgettable atmosphere!

In addition to soccer and football, field hockey will compete at VCU on Friday, then return to face UMass Lowell at Kentner Stadium. The volleyball team is also on the move; they’re headed to Alabama for an exciting ACC-SEC showdown. With a new video board at Varsity Arena, the volleyball games promise an enhanced fan experience.

In golf news, the men’s team recently clinched the Bryan National Collegiate title. This victory showcases the talent within Wake athletics.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for men’s and women’s basketball schedules, which were just announced. Both teams are gearing up for an exciting season.

Lastly, enjoy the night-before-fireworks on Wednesday at 9 p.m., and be sure to prepare for game day. Check out GoDeacs.com for all your parking and gameday needs.

Let’s keep the spirit alive and make this week one to remember!

Go Deacs!
