Inter Miami CF has made an exciting move by signing Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair until the end of the 2026 MLS season, with an option for a sprint season in 2027. This addition aims to boost the team’s goalkeeping strength.
At 28 years old, St. Clair comes with impressive credentials. He was named the 2025 Goalkeeper of the Year while playing for Minnesota United. His performance helped lead the team to two consecutive Western Conference semifinals in 2024 and 2025. St. Clair is also a two-time MLS All-Star, having played in the All-Star Game in 2022 and 2025, where he earned MVP honors in the latter.
St. Clair began his journey in various semi-professional leagues in Ontario and then moved to the University of Maryland in 2015. After four successful seasons with the Terrapins, he was drafted seventh overall by Minnesota United in the 2019 MLS Superdraft.
His early career included loan spells with Forward Madison FC and San Antonio FC. In 2020, Minnesota brought him back, and he made a strong impact by posting eight clean sheets in the last 13 regular-season matches and three playoff games.
St. Clair’s skills continued to shine, making him the clear choice as Minnesota’s starting goalkeeper. In 2022, he earned his first All-Star selection and went on to have a record-breaking 2025 season, leading the league with a remarkable 77.93% save percentage, 113 saves, and 10 clean sheets in just 30 matches. He was the only goalkeeper to maintain a goals-against average of 1.00 while achieving a save percentage above 75%.
His performances didn’t go unnoticed. St. Clair earned his first call-up to the Canadian national team in 2021 and made a memorable debut by keeping a clean sheet in a 7-0 victory over Aruba during World Cup qualifiers. Today, he has 18 caps for Canada and is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.
