Into the Deep (2025) Review: Dive into the Thrilling Shark Horror Experience!

If you’re curious about the movie Into the Deep, you can check it out in theaters or find it on digital platforms starting January 24, 2025. The film is directed by Christian Sesma, who has quite a few titles under his belt. His IMDb page shows he directs multiple films every year. While he’s busy, his movies often receive low ratings—usually around 3 to 4 out of 10. A few manage to score higher, but not many.

The screenplay is crafted by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway, the same duo behind the 2023 film The Flood, which didn’t impress critics either. It’s a bit disappointing to learn this after watching Into the Deep because it might have helped manage expectations.

The title alone feels quite basic, and I can’t help but feel let down. I went in hoping for a thrilling shark story, especially with a striking image of a shark used in promotions. However, the film isn’t really focused on sharks.

There is a notable moment during the end credits when Richard Dreyfuss delivers a passionate speech about the need to protect sharks. It’s a heartfelt message about the harm they’re facing, and I absolutely agree with him. It’s just ironic that the film leading up to this message misses the mark on delivering a true shark thriller.

In short, while I support saving sharks, I can’t recommend this film.
