Spotify has teamed up with Backline to launch B-LINE, a 24/7 mental health support line tailored for the U.S. music community. This service connects artists, their teams, and families with trained counselors who understand the unique pressures of the industry. It’s a first-of-its-kind initiative that aims to provide immediate help.
B-LINE builds on successful projects like Chappell Roan’s fundraising campaign, “WE GOT YOU!”, which mobilized the industry to prioritize mental health care. Spotify, along with partners like Noah Kahan and Live Nation, is proud to support this essential resource.
Charlie Hellman, Spotify’s Global Head of Music, emphasizes the need for safety nets in the industry. “Artists are the lifeblood of culture, but they often lack the support they need. B-LINE aims to change that,” he said.
This helpline offers confidential support and a smooth path to long-term care. Backline collaborates with professionals from Vibrant Emotional Health, a leader in mental health services, to ensure top-quality assistance.
Hilary Gleason, co-founder of Backline, shared her excitement about the initiative: “Real-time access to care has been a missing piece. B-LINE fulfills that gap.”
Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the urgency for continuous mental health support in the industry.
The music world is recognizing the need for mental health resources. Recent industry statistics show that nearly 73% of musicians experience anxiety or depression due to their work. This initiative is crucial in addressing those mental health challenges.
For those outside the U.S., additional resources are still available through Spotify’s commitment to creator well-being. For more information on how B-LINE works, check out Spotify for Artists.
