The Hype Magazine has exciting news! Dr. Natasha Weems is joining as our new Lifestyle and Health Correspondent. She will bring you insights from red carpets, exclusive events, and cultural moments, along with hosting our segment “What’s Hype About Health.”

Dr. Weems, who grew up in Detroit, has over 20 years of experience in healthcare. She became a registered nurse in 2009 and a nurse practitioner in 2014. With degrees in Communication from Wayne State University and nursing from Oakland University, she’s a blend of healthcare professional and communicator.

As the owner of Care First Wellness Med Spa in California and founder of the Pearl Health Foundation, a nonprofit focused on mental health and autism awareness, Dr. Weems is deeply rooted in wellness and philanthropy. Her past work includes building food distribution programs for Detroit’s underserved communities, delivering hot meals and essential items to families in need. Her approach to healthcare is both compassionate and authentic.

Dr. Weems also works internationally, supporting communities in Sierra Leone with health education and donations of medical supplies. Through her podcast, Unboxed and Fearless, she shares inspiring stories of resilience and positivity.

Her experience includes covering events like the Global Peace Summit and the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards, interviewing a diverse range of figures—from actors to political leaders. She highlights projects at film festivals that uplift creative voices. As an author, she combines storytelling with advocacy, making her work impactful and relatable.

Entering the entertainment space, Dr. Weems aims to spotlight innovators in beauty, culture, health, and lifestyle. “I want to make a difference for young women, especially in my hometown of Detroit,” she says. “These women often feel overlooked by society. My goal is to help them discover their strength.”

Beyond her new role, Dr. Weems continues to mentor nurses, support the homeless, and empower abuse survivors as they rebuild their lives.

Studies show that a supportive community can significantly affect mental health. Platforms like Dr. Weems’ initiatives emphasize the importance of connection and compassion. According to a recent report by the CDC, nearly 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experience mental illness each year. This highlights the necessity for advocates like Dr. Weems, who champion mental health and community support.

In a world where mental health awareness is growing, Dr. Weems stands at the forefront, ready to inspire others in her journey.
