Apple has introduced the MacBook Neo, a new low-cost laptop powered by the A18 Pro chip. Priced at $599, it promises impressive performance for everyday tasks.
This is the first Mac to use an iPhone chip. The A18 Pro chip makes the Neo 50% faster than many current PCs. For tasks like photo editing, it’s even 2 to 3 times quicker.
The MacBook Neo features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 by 1506. It offers 500 nits of brightness and comes without a notch, sporting sleek bezels like an iPad.
In terms of design, the Neo is available in vibrant colors: Silver, Indigo, Blush, and Citrus. It weighs just 2.7 pounds, making it lightweight and portable.
The laptop includes two USB-C ports—one for USB-C 2 with speeds up to 480 Mb/s and another for USB-C 3 that supports 10 Gb/s. Plus, it has a headphone jack.
Battery life is impressive too, with up to 16 hours of usage. Other features include 8GB of unified memory, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, a 1080p front-facing camera, dual microphones, and speakers with Spatial Audio.
The MacBook Neo becomes Apple’s most affordable laptop to date, with students able to buy it for $499. Storage options start at 256GB for $599 and go up to 512GB with Touch ID for $699.
An interesting fact about the Neo is its commitment to sustainability. It’s the company’s lowest-carbon Mac, comprising 60% recycled materials, including recycled aluminum and cobalt.
