Iran Poised to Produce Enriched Uranium Within Months, Warns IAEA Chief

Rafael Grossi, the chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has raised concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In a recent interview, he stated that Iran could start producing enriched uranium in just a few months. This assessment follows recent airstrikes by Israel and the US on Iranian nuclear facilities aimed at hindering its nuclear program, which Iran has consistently denied pursuing for military purposes.

The airstrikes on June 13 targeted crucial nuclear and military sites, but Grossi indicated that some facilities are still operational. He emphasized that while damage occurred, Iran could soon ramp up its uranium enrichment capability, potentially setting up centrifuges to begin production.

This concentration is above what is required for civilian use but not quite at weapons-grade. If refined further, this stockpile could theoretically produce over nine nuclear bombs. The IAEA has not confirmed whether this stockpile remains intact or if some have been moved to undisclosed locations.
