Is Monster Hunter Wilds Worth the Hype? Performance Review for PS5 and PS5 Pro

Monster Hunter Wilds on PS5 Pro

Playing Wilds on the PS5 Pro really enhances the experience. You get better resolution, smoother frame rates, and even ray tracing in two out of three modes.

If you want the smoothest play, the Prioritize Framerate setting is the way to go. It makes the game run super smoothly, but you’ll miss out on ray tracing, and the resolution takes a hit. Still, for fast-paced action, it’s hard to beat.

The Balanced option is decent too, but if you can handle some frame rate jumps, it’s worth a try. When comparing Balanced with Prioritize Resolution, we noticed that the quality difference isn’t huge, so you’ll still enjoy a good image overall.

Monster Hunter Wilds on Standard PS5

On a regular PS5, Wilds isn’t perfect, but it’s manageable. It lacks ray tracing, which is a downside, yet this helps the game run more smoothly.

The Prioritize Framerate mode delivers the best speed, but the image quality suffers, resulting in a blurrier picture. However, if a high frame rate is your priority, this mode is a strong choice, hitting 60fps most of the time.

We found the Balanced mode to be a nice compromise. It offers better image quality while maintaining around 40fps, which feels good for casual players.

The Prioritize Resolution mode sticks to about 30fps, but honestly, it’s close to Balanced in terms of quality. So, Balanced tends to be a better pick for many players.
