Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism has launched an online campaign tackling the incitement found in the Palestinian Authority’s education system. This campaign includes videos and banners shared on major news sites and social media platforms in the U.S. and Europe.
Israeli officials have often criticized the PA for including violent and antisemitic content in school textbooks. Many countries, including the U.S. and institutions like the European Parliament, have echoed these concerns and are calling for change.
Hadas Maimon, who leads international campaigns for the Diaspora Ministry, stated, “Our new campaign aims to show the truth about the systematic incitement in Palestinian education. With targeted ads, we hope to highlight how teaching hatred contributes to ongoing violence.”
Maimon emphasized that Israel and Western nations value democracy and freedom. She urged the world to recognize the harmful messages conveyed to children in PA-controlled areas, stating, “The propaganda war is crucial for Israel’s legitimacy globally.”
In 2020, former MP Jonathan Gullis raised alarms in Parliament about the radicalization of Palestinian children. He noted that textbooks promote ideas like “counting martyrs” and suggest that “Jews control the world.” He expressed concern that these children are not taught about peace but rather are fed a narrative that vilifies others.
Gullis pointed out that young children learn that Jews are enemies of Islam and that Jerusalem is a city only for Muslims and Christians. He concluded that this is a form of antisemitism that needs to be condemned just as strongly as any antisemitic actions at home.
