New Delhi, Dec 24 – Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan has expressed pride in ISRO’s recent achievement. The Indian Space Research Organization successfully launched its LVM3-M6 rocket, carrying the US satellite BlueBird Block-2. This marks a significant moment for India’s space ambitions.
The LVM3-M6 took off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Radhakrishnan took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate Team ISRO. He called this launch a “proud stride towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” This mission underscores India’s advancing role in space technology and its heavy-lift capabilities.
BlueBird 6, the satellite aboard the rocket, is noteworthy. Weighing 6,100 kg, it is the heaviest payload ever launched from India into Low Earth Orbit. This surpasses the previous record held by the LVM3-M5 mission in November, which launched a 4,400 kg satellite.
The BlueBird 6 satellite belongs to the next generation of communication systems. It aims to provide direct cellular broadband through smartphones, enhancing connectivity with both 4G and 5G technology. This mission is part of a commercial partnership between NewSpace India Ltd and the US company AST SpaceMobile.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the launch. He highlighted its importance for India’s space sector. According to Modi, this launch strengthens India’s capabilities and signifies a growing presence in the global space industry.
Recent trends show that space exploration and technology are becoming focal points for many countries. In 2022 alone, global space launches reached a record of over 180, according to the Space Foundation. This reflects a rising interest in satellite technologies and commercial launches worldwide.
