Jacksonville Men’s Soccer Shines in ASUN Championship
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Jacksonville men’s soccer team triumphed over Lipscomb University with a commanding 2-0 win in the first round of the ASUN Championship at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium on Saturday night.
From the kickoff, the Dolphins dominated the field, outshooting the Bisons 19-5. Early on, in the 16th minute, Diego Valles put Jacksonville on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal, giving them a lead they maintained through halftime.
The Dolphins’ defense was impressive, allowing Lipscomb only two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Christian Sekanina ensured a clean sheet with two crucial saves.
Late in the second half, Jacksonville sealed their victory when Juan Pablo Gonzalez scored in the 82nd minute, assisted by Felix Kogler. This marked Kogler’s second assist in two games.
