Jaelin Kauf from the USA secured her 10th World Cup win in dual moguls, cementing her top ranking just in time for the Olympics next February. She showcased her skills in Val St. Come, Quebec, where she emerged victorious against Anastassiya Gorodko from Kazakhstan in the finals.
This win marks Kauf’s second triumph in three dual moguls events this season. Impressively, it’s also her sixth consecutive podium finish in World Cup competitions, with eight of those being in dual moguls since last January. Originally a silver medalist in moguls at the 2022 Olympics, Kauf currently sits second in the overall World Cup standings, trailing only France’s Perrine Laffont, the 2018 Olympic champion.
Meanwhile, Australian skier Jakara Anthony, who captured gold at the 2022 Olympics, is on the sidelines after breaking her collarbone in December. In the men’s events, Canadian Mikaël Kingsbury celebrated a remarkable achievement by winning both the men’s moguls and dual moguls at Val St. Come, bringing his career total to 96 World Cup wins.
Both Kingsbury and American skier Mikaela Shiffrin are on the brink of reaching 100 World Cup victories. Shiffrin, with 99 wins, will focus on the World Championships, which don’t contribute towards World Cup totals. Her next chance to compete in the World Cup will be at the giant slaloms on February 21 and 22, followed by a slalom on February 23. Kingsbury is slated to continue his journey in Deer Valley, Utah, and then in Beidahu, China.
The record for individual World Cup wins is held by Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjørgen, who not only achieved 114 victories but also holds the all-time record for Winter Olympic medals with 15. As the Olympic season heats up, the excitement for moguls skiing continues to grow.
