During a lively panel, moderated by Jenna Leigh Green from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, beloved actors Jaleel White from Family Matters, Rider Strong and Will Friedle from Boy Meets World, and Soleil Moon Frye also from Sabrina shared funny memories from their time in the spotlight. They reminisced about their favorite moments, with White highlighting two memorable food fights from Family Matters.

Reflecting on the first food fight, White recalled how he eagerly asked to be part of a scene that originally left him out. "I begged, ‘I’m 13! Please let me do it. I’ll do anything!’" he shared. When he finally got the script, he found out that Steve Urkel was included, but in a way he hadn’t expected. “Urkel gets pelted by pies as the scene closes. I took the hit, and it became a running joke in promos for the show," he laughed.

A year later, the tables turned. "By then, I was 17, and the crew was ready for the next food fight. They even had pies waiting in the back," White said. This time, everyone, including writers and producers, joined in the fun in front of a live audience. "It was chaos! We just started throwing pies everywhere. What a blast!"

The TGIF programming block on ABC, which brought shows like Full House and Step by Step into homes from 1989 to 2000, has a special place in the hearts of many. Interestingly, producer Jim Janicek revealed that "TGIF" didn’t stand for "Thank God It’s Friday," but rather "Thank Goodness It’s Funny." This clever twist captures the essence of the shows that entertained families every Friday night.

This year’s 90s Con also gathered stars from other beloved series like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed. These actors not only caught up with former co-stars but also shared their experiences of being part of a groundbreaking era in television.

As the convention runs through March 30 at the Connecticut Convention Center, fans are celebrating the laughter, friends, and nostalgia that marked the 90s.
