Receiver Jalin Hyatt is gearing up for a crucial third season in the NFL, and he’s been busy changing his body. This offseason, he added over 20 pounds to his frame, moving from about 170 pounds to nearly 195.

In an interview on the Giants Huddle podcast, Hyatt shared, “That’s what darkness does to you. It changes you.” He believes that this extra weight will help him compete better against tougher opponents without sacrificing his speed, which clocked in at 4.4 seconds during his draft evaluation.

Hyatt is focused on learning how to run with his new weight. He said, “I felt weak last season, so I had to get stronger.” He aims to expand his role as a receiver, moving from the outside to the slot position in the upcoming games.

His performance in his rookie year was promising—he caught 23 passes for 373 yards. However, he faced a setback in 2024, managing just eight catches for 62 yards over 16 games. With stiff competition from teammates Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and WanDale Robinson, Hyatt is under pressure to prove himself.

According to a recent NFL survey, over 40% of receivers see physical evolution as key to their success.
