Jason Isaacs is passing the torch to a new Lucius Malfoy!
Recently, HBO announced exciting casting news for their upcoming series. Johnny Flynn, known for his role in Ripley, will portray Lucius Malfoy, while newcomer Lox Pratt steps into the shoes of Draco Malfoy.
As soon as the news broke, Isaacs, who famously played Lucius in the films, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his support. He praised Flynn as “a fantastic actor, a lovely man, and annoyingly a brilliant musician too.” He humorously added a plea: “Just please don’t make him sing…”
Adding to the excitement, Harry Potter fans learned that Tom Felton will reprise his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This production starts on November 11 and runs until March 22, 2026.
At the recent Tony Awards, Felton presented on stage, and Isaacs celebrated his performance on X, promising to catch a show. He wrote, “Saw you presenting on the Tonys tonight, son—you looked good, sounded good, and did great. Tickets booked for November!”
Felton shared with The Hollywood Reporter that returning to Draco feels just right. “It’s the perfect time because in the play, Draco is now a dad and the same age I am,” he said. “It’s familiar, but also brand new, and I’m really excited for that.” He noted that Draco will be a more mindful father, wanting to avoid the mistakes his own father, Lucius, made.
As the series and the play bring beloved characters back to life, it’s clear that both old fans and new audiences are ready to embrace these stories once again.
