Jeonbuk National University: Shaping the Future and Dreams of Mongolian Youth

Jeonbuk National University is set to welcome up to 1,000 students from Mongolia’s Bayanzürkh District. This collaboration began when university President Yang O-bong signed an agreement during his visit to Mongolia.

The plan is to gradually recruit Mongolian students for degree programs, Korean language classes, and exchange opportunities. The university aims to focus on fields like AI, renewable energy, civil engineering, and business, which are vital for Mongolia’s growth.

President Yang shared his vision, stating, “Jeonbuk National University will be a reliable partner in shaping the dreams of Mongolian youth. We’re committed to providing a supportive environment for international students to reach their academic and personal goals.”

This initiative aligns with the university’s larger objective of enrolling 5,000 international students by 2028. They’ve set this goal as part of the Korean government’s Glocal University 30 funding program launched in 2023. Currently, as reported by the Korean Council for University Education, the university hosts 1,032 international students.

This partnership not only fosters educational exchange but also strengthens ties between Korea and Mongolia, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in education.

Starting with this agreement, Jeonbuk National University aims to bring talented students to South Korea, boosting both universities’ diversity and international presence. With this effort, the university hopes to empower future leaders in critical fields.
