“It was unfortunate,” Jones stated during an interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. He described it as a moment of excitement among Cowboys fans, saying, “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans out in front of us.” He emphasized that his gesture wasn’t meant to offend; he intended to offer a thumbs up instead.

Jones added, “It was inadvertently done. If you want to call it accidental, you can.” His clarification reflects how quickly emotions can run high during games, especially when passions flare among fans.

The NFL has yet to announce any potential consequences for Jones. This isn’t the first time an NFL owner has faced scrutiny for inappropriate gestures. For instance, Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 last year for tossing a drink at Jaguars fans. In 2009, the late Bud Adams of the Tennessee Titans received a $250,000 fine for a similar incident.
