JetBlue Flight Safely Lands at Boston Logan Airport, Rolls onto Grass—No Injuries Reported

A JetBlue flight at Boston Logan International Airport made an unexpected turn onto the grass while landing on Thursday. The incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. as JetBlue flight 312 was arriving from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

After veering off the runway, the aircraft was promptly assessed, and passengers were safely deplaned using stairs and were bused into the terminal. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The Airbus A220 involved was manufactured in 2024, making it one of the latest models in operation. JetBlue commented, “Safety is our top priority. We will investigate the incident and cooperate fully with authorities to determine the cause.”

Tyesha Best, president of Transport Workers Union Local 579, which represents JetBlue flight attendants, noted that the union is aware of the situation. She reassured, “All crew and customers are safe. We remain in contact with the company to provide support to those affected.”

According to recent FAA reports, the agency issued a ground stop at Logan for emergency reasons and is looking into the incident. This type of occurrence, while rare, raises questions about aviation safety, especially as the industry continues to recover and grow post-pandemic.

Statistics show that safety in commercial aviation has improved significantly in recent decades, with the National Transportation Safety Board reporting a dramatic decline in accident rates. In 2022, there were just 0.2 accidents per million flights in the U.S., compared to much higher numbers in previous decades.
