A bomb threat caused a JetBlue flight from Boston to Vero Beach, Florida, to remain on the tarmac for hours, leaving passengers anxious inside.
Tommy Dempsey, who was traveling with his son Kayden, noticed the plane had been moved far from the terminal. “We saw the airport, but we couldn’t leave,” he said. Passengers were understandably worried, as they waited for information.
Massachusetts State Police reported that an unidentified person claimed there was a bomb aboard the plane. This prompted an immediate response from the FBI and local authorities, including bomb-sniffing dogs tasked with searching luggage and the cabin before anyone could disembark.
Kayden described his fear during the ordeal: “I was scared. I thought, this could be it. It was one of the scariest experiences of my life.” Fortunately, the threat was found to be not credible.
While the incident turned out to be a false alarm, it highlighted a growing concern about safety in air travel. Flight disruptions due to threats have increased. According to the FAA, in 2022, there were over 1,500 incidents involving unruly passengers, adding pressure on airlines and security forces.
“I’m just glad we’re safe,” Tommy stated after the ordeal. Kayden added, “This wasn’t the best start to our spring break vacation.”
No arrests have been made, and authorities continue to encourage vigilance. “If you see something, say something,” reminded the state police.
