“Jharkhand Assembly Urges Bharat Ratna for Ex-CM Shibu Soren: Latest Updates on India News”

Jharkhand’s Legislative Assembly has recently passed a resolution to honor the late Shibu Soren with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. This demand was introduced by Minister Deepak Birua during the final days of the Monsoon Session, following Soren’s passing on August 4.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren spoke passionately in the Assembly, highlighting Shibu Soren’s inspirational role in Jharkhand’s history. He noted that people nationwide came to pay their respects, and even Telangana’s Chief Minister acknowledged Soren’s impact on India’s creation of new states.

Earlier, on August 22, CM Soren suggested that the Assembly would formally recommend the Bharat Ratna to the central government. “It’s about the feelings of the House and the public,” he explained.

Mahua Maji, a JMM Member of Parliament, emphasized Shibu Soren’s importance by calling him the “greatest tribal leader” and expressing the collective wish for his recognition. She remarked on how his contributions are now being reflected in the public’s gratitude following his death.

Shibu Soren’s political journey spanned more than four decades. He served as Chief Minister of Jharkhand three times and was also a Union Coal Minister under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Recent statistics show that public sentiment toward leaders like Soren can influence government’s decisions. A survey from 2022 revealed that citizens feel appreciated leaders should be honored, inspiring movements like this across various states.
