A Secret Service agent assigned to Jill Biden’s security accidentally shot himself in the leg at the Philadelphia International Airport last Friday morning. It happened during a protective duty, just after 8:30 AM.
According to Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the agency, the agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury due to a negligent discharge while handling his weapon. Thankfully, no one else was hurt, and Biden was not present at the scene when the incident occurred.
After the accident, the agent received medical care on-site and was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition. The incident will be investigated by the Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility. This raises concerns about the stressful conditions faced by agents, especially given the growing demands on their roles.

As for Jill Biden, she attended the opening night of an off-Broadway play earlier in the week, showing her continued public engagement. Despite the unfortunate incident, her office has chosen not to comment further.
