Communities In Schools of Central Texas is hosting a flavorful event to support local students. The Food For Thought tasting event is set for Thursday, November 6, at ACL Live at the Moody Theater.
The evening promises amazing dishes from top Austin restaurants like Aba, Eberly, Hestia, and many more. It’s a chance to enjoy great food while making a difference.
Hosts for the night will be CBS Austin This Morning anchors John-Carlos Estrada and Allison Miller. More than just a dinner, this event directly supports Communities In Schools, which offers vital support in schools. Their services include counseling, mentoring, and college readiness programs.
Sharon Vigil, CEO of CIS, emphasized the importance of community and food in bringing people together. “Food is a powerful way to unite us. At our tables, we’re not just sharing meals—we’re shaping brighter futures,” she said. Programs like these have helped thousands of families meet their basic needs, including food and clothing.
According to a recent report from the Texas Education Agency, students who receive support from programs like CIS show significant improvements in academic performance and emotional well-being. This highlights the critical need for supportive environments in schools.
