The selected candidate will:

  • Study literature to understand emissions in the Indian AFOLU sector and their reduction potential.
  • Conduct modelling exercises using GCAM to explore specific themes in the AFOLU sector.

  • Regularly produce blogs and policy briefs.
  • Engage with stakeholders and represent CEEW at climate policy events.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to gather data.

Why It Matters

Addressing climate change is critical, and the AFOLU sector plays a key role. According to the IPCC, agricultural and land use emissions contribute about 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Focusing on this area could significantly impact climate change mitigation efforts.

Moreover, public interest in sustainable practices has grown, fueled by social media. Trends show an increasing number of people advocating for environmentally friendly practices, such as plant-based diets and sustainable farming techniques. This shift highlights the growing importance of roles like that of the Research Analyst at CEEW.
