Join Councilman Crispin Rea and Local Firefighters for a Community Food Drive: Help Us Make a Difference!

Kansas City is gearing up for a big community effort. Councilman Crispin Rea, along with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42, is leading food drives to help those in need. This initiative runs from November 29 to December 20.

Food Drive Schedule

Here’s a quick look at when and where you can drop off donations:

  • Nov. 29: Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry, 1100 NE Vivion Rd., KCMO, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Dec. 6: Redemptorist Center, 207 Linwood Blvd., KCMO, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Dec. 12: Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry, 1100 NE Vivion Rd., KCMO, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Dec. 20: Redemptorist Center, 207 Linwood Blvd., KCMO, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Items in Need

The community specifically needs:

  • Canned vegetables and soups
  • Peanut butter
  • Pasta and rice
  • Beans
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Toilet paper
  • Deodorants (full-size)
  • Diapers (both baby and adult)
  • Shampoo

Councilman Rea highlighted the growing need in the area. “Families and seniors are struggling to get essential items like food and diapers,” he said. That’s why he’s joined forces with IAFF Local 42, Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry, and Redemptorist Center to address these challenges.

Why It Matters

Food insecurity has been on the rise. A recent study by Feeding America found that 1 in 8 Americans faced hunger in 2020. Local efforts like these are crucial in bridging the gap for families in need.

If you’re interested in helping out, you can find more information at Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry and Redemptorist Center.

Let’s come together to make a difference! Every bit counts.
