Join DePaul University Athletics for the Exciting Fort Myers Tip-Off This Thanksgiving!

FORT MYERS, Fla. – DePaul men’s basketball is set to join the Fort Myers Tip-Off for the first time this November. The event will be held on the 24th and 26th at Florida SouthWestern State College.

The Blue Demons will take on Purdue on November 24 and will face Pitt on Thanksgiving Day. Oklahoma will complete the lineup for this exciting tournament.

The Fort Myers Tip-Off has built a reputation as a top-tier event in college basketball. In recent years, it has featured powerhouse teams like Michigan and Florida, both national champions. DePaul’s coach, Chris Holtmann, got a taste of the action during his time with Ohio State in 2021.

As they prepare for this tournament, DePaul and Purdue will be meeting for the first time in 20 years. The last matchup was back in 2006 during the Maui Invitational, with Purdue currently leading their series 12-9. Last season, Purdue had an impressive record of 30-9 and reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament, showcasing their competitive edge.

Pitt, which ended last season with a 13-20 record, will also add to the challenge. Under head coach Jeff Capel, this matchup marks another clash against a familiar rival, as Pitt has a strong historical advantage with a 9-2 record against DePaul.

This year’s Fort Myers Tip-Off is more than just games; it’s a tradition that brings college basketball fans together during Thanksgiving. The event takes place at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena, making it a staple on Southwest Florida’s sports calendar.

For those interested in attending, ticket packages go on sale in Spring. Fans can look forward to exciting basketball, festive atmosphere, and perhaps some unforgettable moments this holiday season.
