GLASGOW, Ky. – A group in Barren County is stepping up to support the LGBTQ+ community by organizing a food drive. Glasgow Pride recently teamed up with The Hive Coffee and Bakehouse for their Pride and Plenty Food Drive.

This initiative supports AJ’s Grace, a food pantry linked to the popular restaurant AJ’s Place. AJ’s Grace stands out because it offers food without any questions asked. This is especially vital as winter approaches, ensuring everyone has access to meals.

Chadwick Stockley, chairperson of Glasgow Pride, emphasized the growing need in the community. “There are many people facing homelessness and families struggling to make ends meet,” he said. “As winter comes, we want to ensure they have hot meals and easy-to-open canned goods.”

Becky Hasley, a volunteer at AJ’s Grace, echoed this sentiment. She noted that many are just on the edge of stability, making help crucial during colder months.

Food insecurity affects many, and in recent years, statistics show an increase in individuals seeking assistance. According to a report by Feeding America, around 38 million Americans faced hunger in 2020, highlighting the importance of initiatives like this one.
