BILOXI, Miss. — A local food truck, Granny’s Delicious Hotdogs, is making a significant difference in the homeless community. Recently parked at the Biloxi Lighthouse, it served free meals and handed out backpacks filled with hygiene products and necessities. Attendees also had a chance to win a bicycle.

Roosevelt Warmack, a Biloxi resident, described the event as a beacon of hope. “It’s like a light in the darkness,” he said, appreciating both the meals and the kindness offered.

Another local, Brian Fremin, expressed gratitude on behalf of many others in need. “We thank her very much for what she does for us,” he said.

“Granny,” the heart behind the food truck, takes pride in cooking. “We try to give them something new to eat each time,” she shared. Her granddaughter, Larhonda Coppola, emphasized that food is a way of showing love and support. “We just want them to feel seen,” she explained.

The event wasn’t just about meals; each person received a backpack filled with supplies. Coppola noted the importance of transportation, stating, “It makes me happy. It makes me feel good knowing there are people who care.”

Warmack added, “Without hope, you know, you’re lost.” The desire to lift spirits was clear. “People like this… we need people out here that care for us,” Fremin emphasized, reminding everyone that hardships can touch anyone.

Coppola mentioned that their aim was to show love and support. “By the grace of God, we’re able to do this,” she said. The food truck, a small business, finds joy in giving back, planning similar events every three months.
