Kix Brooks, a beloved figure in country music and part of the duo Brooks and Dunn, is at the heart of this initiative. He expressed pride in the community’s support for the concerts, which are designed not just for entertainment but to uplift the spirits of those on the inside.
Brooks is passionate about the cause behind the concerts. It’s called Hope on the Inside, founded by Briana Calhoun, a former teacher and ex-convict. Calhoun’s journey is inspiring; she overcame drug addiction, served time in prison, and earned three degrees, including a master’s in journalism.
Brooks shared his admiration for Calhoun, saying, “Her story shows that change is possible.” He highlighted how her experience resonates with him and many others, reinforcing the idea that anyone can turn their life around.
