Join Kuwait’s Earth Hour: Power Down to Fight Climate Change Today!

Kuwait is joining the world today for Earth Hour. From 8:30 to 9:30 PM, everyone is encouraged to turn off their lights and appliances. It’s a simple step towards addressing climate change.

The Kuwait Society for Earth Sciences (KSES) is leading this push. Dr. Mubarak Al-Hajri, the Chairman of KSES, urges citizens and residents to partake in this global event. The slogan for this year is "Together towards the biggest hour for Earth." It’s a reminder of the importance of conserving energy and protecting our planet.

Dr. Al-Hajri pointed out the serious issue of excessive energy usage. This not only contributes to climate change but also leads to global warming. Earth Hour is a chance for all of us to pause, consider how we use energy, and take little steps that can make a big difference. Lighting candles during this hour symbolizes solidarity with millions around the globe who are taking part.

Since its launch in 2007 in Sydney, Earth Hour has gained momentum. It has spread to 180 countries, with 3.5 billion people participating last year alone. The event happens on the last Saturday of March to sync participation across time zones, making it a truly global moment.

Climate change is a growing threat. We see it in extreme weather, floods, and wildfires. Dr. Al-Hajri stresses that Earth Hour is more than just turning off lights; it’s a wake-up call for us all to take further action in protecting our environment.

As we come together today for Earth Hour, let’s remember that each small effort counts. We can help create a sustainable future and preserve our planet for generations to come. For more about Earth Hour and how to get involved, you can visit the official Earth Hour website.
