Garrett Yalch from Frontier will join local leaders and journalists for a panel on mental health care in Tulsa on March 30. This free event, hosted by The Tulsa Flyer and The Oklahoma Eagle, runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 101 E. Archer Street. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
This forum is part of “Snapshot: Mental Health,” a collaborative effort aimed at improving mental health services in Tulsa and throughout Oklahoma.
Yalch, alongside fellow reporter Ari Fife, highlighted recent state funding cuts affecting mental health services in their coverage. Earlier this month, Yalch also revealed alarming findings about seven deaths in three years at the Tulsa Municipal Jail, a facility that often houses those facing severe mental health challenges.
Joining the panel are:
- Ismael Lele, The Oklahoma Eagle reporter
- Christine Marsh, executive vice president of Family & Children’s Services
- Mike Brose, consultant for the Tulsa Day Center
- Zach Stoycoff, president and CEO of the Healthy Minds Policy Initiative
The conversation on mental health is vital, especially in light of statistics from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), which states that one in five adults in the U.S. experiences mental illness each year. This discussion aims to address the ongoing mental health crisis in cities like Tulsa, where resources remain stretched.
Considering recent social media trends, many people are sharing their experiences using the hashtag #MentalHealthMatters, highlighting the growing awareness and demand for open conversations about mental health.

This panel discussion is a chance for the community to engage directly with experts about the challenges and changes in mental health care.
