Join Ozarks Food Harvest: Volunteer to Fight Post-Holiday Hunger Together!

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Ozarks Food Harvest is encouraging the community to step up and help fight hunger this year.

After the holidays, many food banks see a drop in volunteer numbers. That’s why they’re asking people to volunteer at least six times between January and March. Jordan Browning from Ozarks Food Harvest noted that the need remains high even after the busy holiday season.

“Demand for food is constant,” Browning explained. “In southwest Missouri, one in five children and one in six adults face hunger. This issue doesn’t change with the seasons.”

Each hour spent volunteering can provide around 105 meals to those in need.

Local community support is critical. Recent studies show that hunger affects many families year-round. According to Feeding America, over 38 million Americans are food insecure, including 12 million children.

For those interested in helping, you can find more information about volunteering on the Ozarks Food Harvest website here.

By taking a few hours to volunteer, you could make a significant difference in your community. Every action counts in the fight against hunger.
