PEEC News:
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is launching a new Climate Café series. This is a space for community members to talk about their feelings on climate change, guided by a facilitator. The first session is on January 15, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
The Climate Café is a welcoming place where people can share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to climate change. It’s designed to help with mental wellness and build resilience in the face of environmental challenges. Participants can express a range of emotions—be it worry, grief, hope, or uncertainty—while feeling respected and supported.
These gatherings may have deep discussions about how the changing climate affects us all. Light refreshments like coffee and tea will be served. While preregistration is encouraged, drop-ins are always welcome. Note that these discussions may not be suitable for children under 16.
The Climate Café will meet monthly, giving the community a chance to connect and support each other through ongoing emotional conversations about climate change. The next meeting is scheduled for March 12, 2026.

According to a recent survey by the American Psychological Association, nearly 70% of adults report feeling anxious about climate change. As we discuss these emotions in the Climate Café, we also join a broader movement. Communities worldwide are forming similar groups, recognizing the importance of mental health in addressing environmental issues. Together, we can learn, support each other, and find hope amidst challenges.
