Redwood Credit Union (RCU) is making it easy for people to give back this holiday season. They’ve launched two initiatives: a gift drive and a porch-to-pantry food drive. In partnership with a nonprofit startup, RCU aims to streamline the process of donating food right from your doorstep, making it convenient for North Bay and San Francisco residents.
With the porch-to-pantry food drive, people can sign up to donate shelf-stable foods. On December 13, volunteers will collect these donations and deliver them to local food banks. It’s a straightforward way to help those in need.
RCU is also accepting gifts at their 22 branches and auto services until mid-December. These gifts will be distributed by local nonprofits to families in the area.
Local Donation Opportunities
Mendocino County Branches
- Point Arena: Drop off new, unwrapped gifts from November 28 to December 19 for Project Santa. Books for children aged 10-16 are especially welcomed.
- Ukiah: Donate gifts for infants to 18-year-olds from November 25 to December 22 to support the Ukiah Valley Christmas Effort.
Last year, RCU had a successful holiday campaign, distributing 947 gifts and collecting over 3,100 pounds of food, equating to nearly 3,800 meals. This year, they aim to do even better.
