Mark your calendars! On May 16, 2025, Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio is hosting a Mental Health Awareness Symposium at Perry Local Schools in Lima, Ohio. This event aims to raise awareness about mental health, especially among youth.

The keynote speaker, Seth Gehle, is a Lima native whose journey through trauma and healing has touched many lives. He offers a powerful perspective on resilience that attendees will find uplifting.

This event is crucial for everyone who works with children—educators, counselors, law enforcement, and youth mentors. It will provide practical insights and tools to help support the mental well-being of young people. Dr. Portia G. Smith, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, emphasizes this by saying, “Mental health is vital for a young person’s ability to learn and feel connected.”
