The Holiday Food Pantry Drive is Back!
This year marks the 22nd annual Holiday Food Pantry Drive, a collaboration between The Daily Leader and the Bank of Brookhaven. For over two decades, this partnership has helped raise funds for local food pantries during the holiday season.
In 2025, the donations will support several pantries: St. Francis of Assisi/St. Vincent de Paul, The Greater Hope Foundation, Bethel AME, and Mt. Zion Food Pantry. Last year, the drive gathered $5,000, thanks to contributions from over 30 individuals and organizations, showing the community’s generosity.
You can donate now at The Daily Leader office or the Bank of Brookhaven. Checks should be made out to the Holiday Food Pantry. Donations can also be mailed to The Daily Leader, P.O. Box 551, Brookhaven, MS 39602. Donors will be acknowledged in the newspaper as gifts come in, unless they prefer to remain anonymous.
The need for food assistance rises during the holidays. Families often rely on food pantries to make it through. Shannon Aker, president of the Bank of Brookhaven, emphasized, “It’s probably more needed now than ever.” Many families face challenges, making support from the food pantries crucial.
Each pantry plays an important role. St. Francis of Assisi/St. Vincent de Paul serves around 12 families weekly. Bethel AME helps about 175 families each month, while Mt. Zion assists around 235. The Greater Hope Foundation distributes food to up to 300 families monthly. As you can see, the need is significant, and each donation counts.
You can directly support any pantry year-round. If you’re interested in giving or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to them:

Editor Brett Campbell noted, “Thank you in advance to everyone who gives to this effort, no matter the amount. Every bit helps.” Community involvement makes all the difference in ensuring that families have food security during the holidays and beyond.
It’s clear that this drive not only fills plates but also hearts, fostering a spirit of giving and unity in our community.
