Join the Action: Women’s Golf Kicks Off at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic – Kutztown University Athletics

Three rounds in the 80s helped the Kutztown University women’s golf team secure fifth place in the Michael Corbett Fall Classic at Whispering Woods Golf Club.

Brooke Graham led the team with an impressive 8-over par 80. This performance included a birdie and an impressive 11 pars. Currently, she’s tied for 13th out of 51 players, just a handful of shots from the top five.

Grace Klements matched her best round this season with an 84, scoring two birdies along the way. Both birdies came during a short stretch—one on the 155-yard second hole and another on the 266-yard fourth hole. This effort placed her 20th on the leaderboard.

Freshman Livia Andov shot an 88, securing seven pars and ranking 26th. Gabby Cohen, who recently finished second in a previous tournament, completed her round with a score of 90, including four pars. Newcomer Eva Moawad also made her mark by scoring two birdies and finishing with a 92.

In the team standings, Gannon took a strong lead with a score of 301. They are followed by Walsh at 308 and Charleston’s two squads at 311 and 320.

Individual leaders include Alice Andersson from Charleston ‘B’ and Sydney Hugo from Walsh, both with rounds of 1-under 71.

As teams head into the final round Monday at 9:30 a.m., this tournament reflects the growing competitiveness in women’s collegiate golf. Over recent years, participation in women’s golf programs has surged, highlighting increased interest and investment in the sport. The National Golf Foundation reported a 30% rise in women’s golf participation since 2015, showing a promising trend for the future.

With this context, the Kutztown team is not just vying for rankings; they’re part of a broader movement in sports that champions women’s participation and talent.
