The Altru Family YMCA is kicking off a food and essentials drive to support St. Joseph’s Social Care Food Pantry. This event runs from Monday, November 10, starting at 5:30 AM, until Tuesday, November 18, at 5:00 PM.
You can drop off donations at the YMCA during its open hours. They’re looking for non-perishable food items and unused toiletries. You can find a list of suggested items by checking out the YMCA website or their Facebook page. All contributions go directly to St. Joseph’s Social Care.
If you prefer to give cash, you can make donations directly at St. Joseph’s Social Care, located at 620 8th Avenue South in Grand Forks.
What can you donate? Here are a few ideas:
- Non-perishable vegetables
- Boxed meals
- Canned fruits and tuna
- Pasta sauces and beans
- Shelf-stable milk and juices
- Peanut butter and jelly
For toiletries, consider items like:
- Soap, shampoo, and conditioner
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Deodorant and body wash
- Diapers and baby wipes
- Household items like laundry soap
As hunger concerns rise, community-driven initiatives like this one become essential. Recent statistics show that food insecurity affects 1 in 10 households in the U.S. Supporting your local food pantry can make a real difference. Let’s come together to help those in need!
