Arab Youth Climate Action Forum 2025 Kicks Off in Salalah

The Arab Youth Climate Action Forum 2025 began on Saturday at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. This event, organized by the Madad Development Foundation and supported by the Environment Authority, will run until September 30. Around 200 young leaders from the Arab world are participating.

The opening ceremony featured Dr. Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority. He stressed Oman’s dedication to climate action and the importance of youth involvement in environmental solutions. Representatives from the Madad Development Foundation shared the forum’s goals, while the United Nations Population Fund emphasized empowering youth for sustainable development.

A notable session titled “Youth as a Catalyst for Arab Climate Solutions” showcased discussions among experts and international representatives on the critical role youth play in climate action.

The forum includes plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and policy dialogues focusing on urgent climate concerns. Topics will address sustainable transportation, digital transformation for climate adaptation, decarbonizing industries, climate justice, and the rights of indigenous peoples.

Experts agree that engaging youth is vital for climate initiatives. Recent studies show that countries with active youth involvement in climate policies see better outcomes. For instance, a report from the World Economic Forum highlights how youth-led projects often lead to innovative solutions in sustainability.
